Security Settings

Security Settings

Quick Summary: Manage your login security — change your password and set up two-factor authentication (2FA) to protect your account.

Overview

Security Settings lets you strengthen your account security. You can change your password and enable two-factor authentication (2FA) using an authenticator app, biometric login, or email verification. Adding a second verification method helps prevent unauthorized access even if your password is compromised.

Quick Start

  1. Click your username in the top-right corner
  2. Select Account Management
  3. Click the Security Settings tab
  4. Enter your current password to verify your identity
  5. Choose a verification method to add: Authenticator App, Biometric, or Email
  6. Follow the setup prompts
  7. Your new verification method appears in the list

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication adds a second step when logging in. After entering your password, you must also verify your identity using one of the methods below.

Authenticator App

Use an app like Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password to generate time-based codes.

Setup: 1. Go to Security Settings and verify your identity 2. Click Authenticator App 3. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app (or enter the secret manually) 4. Enter the verification code from the app 5. Give the method a name (e.g., "My Phone") 6. Click Verify

Biometric Authentication and Security Keys (WebAuthn)

Use a fingerprint reader, Face ID, or a hardware security key.

Setup: 1. Go to Security Settings and verify your identity 2. Click Biometric Authentication and Security Keys 3. Give the method a name (e.g., "MacBook TouchID") 4. Follow your browser's prompt to register the device 5. The method is added to your list

Email Verification

Receive a one-time code via email when logging in.

Setup: 1. Go to Security Settings and verify your identity 2. Click Email 3. A verification code is sent to your registered email 4. Enter the code 5. The method is added to your list

Managing Verification Methods

  • Each method appears in your list with its name and type
  • You can remove a method you no longer use
  • You can add multiple methods as backups

Warning: If you remove all 2FA methods, your account will only be protected by your password. We recommend keeping at least one active method.
