Shopify
Shopify Integration
Quick Summary: Connect your Shopify store to automatically import orders, sync inventory, and push fulfillment updates.
Overview
The Shopify integration connects your Shopify store to Floship using Shopify's secure OAuth authorization. Once connected, orders are imported automatically, inventory levels can be synced back to your store, and fulfillment updates (with tracking numbers) are pushed when orders ship.
Quick Start
- Navigate to Account Management, open Integrations, and click Add New Integration
- Select Shopify
- Enter your Shopify store domain and click Continue
- Authorize Floship in the Shopify popup
- Configure sync settings on the integration detail page
- Click Save
Connecting Your Shopify Store
Step 1: Start the Connection
- Navigate to Account Management, then open Integrations in your portal
- Click Add New Integration
- Select Shopify from the platform list
- Enter your Shopify store URL when prompted
- Click Connect to begin authorization
Step 2: Authorize in Shopify
You will be redirected to Shopify's authorization page. Review the permissions requested and click Install app (or Approve). Once authorized, you will be redirected back to Floship and your integration settings page will open.
Step 3: Configure Settings
Review and adjust the integration settings (described below), then click Save.
Tip: Orders will start importing automatically within minutes of connecting.
Note: The Integrations page and Shopify connection controls depend on your account permissions. If you cannot see them, contact your company administrator or Account Manager.
Integration Settings
Status
Toggle between Active and Inactive. When inactive, no orders are imported and no sync occurs. When you re-activate a previously inactive integration, the system reconnects webhooks and resumes order import automatically.
Order Sync Settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Sync Delay | Time to wait (in minutes) before importing new orders. Useful if you need time to modify orders in Shopify before they sync |
| Sync Payment Statuses | Choose which Shopify payment statuses trigger order import (e.g., only import paid orders) |
| Ignore non-shipping items | Skip line items that don't require physical shipping |
| Ignore not found items | Skip line items where the product is not found in Floship |
| Split sales order by location | Create separate orders in Floship based on Shopify inventory locations |
| Sync orders tags enabled | Import Shopify order tags into Floship |
Sync Delay
Sets a waiting period (in minutes) before importing new Shopify orders. When set to 0 (default), orders are imported immediately.
Use this when you routinely edit orders in Shopify after they're placed — for example, adding gift notes, adjusting quantities, or correcting addresses. The delay gives you a window to make changes before the order is imported.
Tip: A delay of 5–15 minutes is common. Longer delays mean customers wait longer before their order enters fulfillment.
Sync Payment Statuses
Controls which Shopify payment statuses trigger an order import. Only orders whose financial status matches one of your selected statuses will be imported.
Available statuses:
- Paid (default) — fully paid orders
- Pending — payment initiated but not completed
- Authorized — payment authorized but not captured
- Partially paid — partial payment received
- Partially refunded — order was partially refunded
Most accounts use Paid only. Add Authorized if you use Shopify's manual capture flow and want orders imported before payment is captured.
Ignore Non-Shipping Items
When enabled (default: Yes), non-shippable line items (such as digital products, tips, or service fees) are excluded from the imported order. Only physical items that require shipping are imported.
Disable this if your Shopify store includes items marked as non-shippable that you still want tracked in Floship.
Ignore Not Found Items
When enabled, line items whose SKU does not match any product in Floship are silently skipped. The order is still imported with the remaining recognized items.
When disabled (default: No), the entire order fails to import if any line item has an unrecognized SKU. You'll see an error in the integration sync log.
Warning: Enabling this means orders may be imported with fewer items than the customer ordered. Make sure your product catalog is complete to avoid missing items.
Split Sales Order by Location
When enabled, a single Shopify order containing items from multiple Shopify locations is split into separate orders in Floship — one per location. Each split order is fulfilled independently from its assigned warehouse.
When disabled (default: No), all items from a Shopify order are grouped into a single order regardless of their Shopify location.
Enable this if you fulfill from multiple warehouses and your Shopify locations map to different Floship warehouses.
Sync Orders Tags Enabled
When enabled, Shopify order tags are imported and kept in sync with Floship. If tags are added or changed in Shopify after the initial import, those updates are synced automatically.
When disabled, tags from Shopify are not imported.
Tip: Tags are useful for automation rules — you can create rules that route orders based on their Shopify tags.
Fulfillment Settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Mark Fulfillments | Push tracking numbers and fulfillment status back to Shopify when orders ship |
| Send fulfillment notification | Control whether Shopify sends a shipping confirmation email to your customer. Options: Yes, No, or Use default setting (follows your Shopify store's notification preferences) |
Mark Fulfillments
When enabled (default: Yes), Floship pushes tracking numbers and marks orders as Fulfilled in Shopify once they ship. Your Shopify order status updates automatically.
When disabled, Shopify orders remain in their current fulfillment state. You'd need to manually update fulfillment in Shopify.
Send Fulfillment Notification
Controls whether Shopify sends a shipping confirmation email to the customer when the order is marked as fulfilled.
- Yes — Shopify always sends the shipping notification email
- No — Shopify does not send any notification
- Use default setting (default) — follows your Shopify store's notification preferences
Tip: If you use Floship's branded email notifications, set this to No to avoid sending duplicate shipping emails.
Inventory Sync
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Sync Inventory | Enable to push inventory levels from Floship back to your Shopify store |
| Inventory Threshold | Reserve a quantity of stock that won't be reflected in Shopify |
When Sync Inventory is enabled, you can configure inventory thresholds and location mappings to control how stock levels are updated in your Shopify store.
Sync Inventory
When enabled, Floship pushes updated stock levels to your Shopify store whenever warehouse inventory changes (shipments, receipts, adjustments).
When disabled (default: No), Shopify inventory is not updated by Floship.
Warning: Inventory sync is one-way — from Floship to Shopify. Any stock changes made directly in Shopify will be overwritten on the next sync.
Inventory Threshold
Sets a global reserved stock buffer. The quantity you specify is subtracted from the available stock before pushing to Shopify.
For example, if you have 100 units in the warehouse and set the threshold to 10, Shopify will show 90 units available.
Default: 0 (no reservation). This field only appears when Sync Inventory is enabled.
Tip: Use per-product thresholds (available in the Inventory Thresholds section below the main settings) if you need different reserve quantities for different SKUs.
Shipping & Customs Settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Sync Shipping Cost | Import the shipping cost from Shopify into the order |
| Pull Customs Value From | Choose the source for customs values on international shipments |
| Show Floship Couriers Rates on Checkout | Display Floship courier rates during Shopify checkout |
| Show T&D from Couriers Rates on Checkout | Show taxes and duties from courier rates at checkout |
| Destination country currency for shipping & taxes | Convert shipping and tax amounts to the customer's local currency |
| Sync Zonos Duties and Taxes | Import duties and taxes calculated by the Zonos Shopify app |
Note: Checkout rates and Zonos settings are only visible if duties and taxes features are enabled for your account. Contact your Account Manager if you don't see these options.
Sync Shipping Cost
When enabled, the shipping cost charged to the customer in Shopify is imported into the Floship order record.
When disabled (default: No), shipping costs from Shopify are not imported.
Pull Customs Value From
Choose where customs declaration values come from for international shipments:
- Portal (default) — uses the customs value configured on each product in Floship
- Shopify — uses the item price from the Shopify order
Use Shopify if your Shopify prices already reflect accurate customs values. Use Portal if you maintain separate customs values in your product catalog.
Show Floship Couriers Rates on Checkout
When enabled, Floship courier rates are displayed to customers during Shopify checkout as available shipping options.
When disabled (default: No), Shopify uses its own configured shipping rates.
Note: This requires Carrier Calculated Shipping Rates to be enabled in your Shopify plan. Enabling this clears the Show T&D from Couriers Rates on Checkout and Destination country currency settings.
Show T&D from Couriers Rates on Checkout
When enabled, taxes and duties calculated from Floship courier rates are shown alongside shipping rates at Shopify checkout.
This setting is only available when Show Floship Couriers Rates on Checkout is enabled and your account has duties and taxes features active.
Note: This setting and Sync Zonos Duties and Taxes are mutually exclusive — only one can be active at a time.
Destination Country Currency for Shipping & Taxes
When enabled, shipping and tax amounts displayed at checkout are converted to the customer's local currency based on their destination country.
When disabled (default: No), amounts are shown in your store's base currency.
This setting is only available when Show Floship Couriers Rates on Checkout is enabled and your account has duties and taxes features active.
Sync Zonos Duties and Taxes
When enabled, duties and taxes calculated by the Zonos Shopify app are imported into Floship orders.
When disabled (default: No), Zonos data is not imported.
Note: This requires the Zonos app to be installed and active in your Shopify store. If Zonos is not detected, this setting cannot be enabled. This setting and Show T&D from Couriers Rates on Checkout are mutually exclusive.
Fraud Detection
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Fraud detection by Shopify | Enable Shopify's built-in fraud analysis for imported orders |
| Fraud detection level in Shopify | Set the fraud risk level threshold |
Fraud Detection by Shopify
When enabled, orders flagged as potentially fraudulent by Shopify's risk analysis are automatically set to Pending Approval (manual approval) instead of processing immediately.
When disabled (default: No), all orders are processed normally regardless of Shopify's fraud assessment.
Fraud Detection Level in Shopify
Sets the minimum fraud risk score that triggers manual approval. Only visible when Fraud detection by Shopify is enabled.
- Low (default) — flags orders with any fraud risk (score 0–1)
- Medium — flags orders with moderate or higher risk (score 0.25–1)
- High — flags only high-risk orders (score 0.75–1)
Tip: Start with Low to catch all flagged orders, then increase the level if you're seeing too many false positives.
Tax Settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Field Name Tax ID | Specify the Shopify custom field name that contains the customer's Tax ID |
Field Name Tax ID
If your store collects a customer Tax ID through a custom field (common for orders shipping to Taiwan), enter the Shopify field name here. The Tax ID value is then imported into the Floship order.
Leave blank if you don't collect Tax IDs through Shopify custom fields.
Return Sync Settings
Note: Return sync settings are only visible if return order sync is enabled for your account.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Sync return orders enabled | Automatically create return orders in Floship when returns are initiated in Shopify |
| Sending return orders | Push return orders created in Floship back to Shopify |
| Close return order | Choose which return statuses trigger closing the return in Shopify |
Sync Return Orders Enabled
When enabled, returns initiated in your Shopify store automatically create corresponding return orders in Floship.
When disabled (default: No), Shopify returns are not synced.
Sending Return Orders
When enabled, return orders created in Floship (whether from an embedded return form or manually) are pushed back to Shopify as returns.
When disabled (default: No), returns created in Floship are not reflected in Shopify.
Close Return Order
Select which Floship return statuses trigger closing (completing) the return in Shopify:
- Received — close the Shopify return when items are received at the warehouse
- Rejected — close the Shopify return when the return is rejected
Location Mapping
The Locations Mapping section appears below the main settings. It shows each Shopify location configured in your store, and lets you map it to one or more Floship warehouses or location addresses.
For each Shopify location row:
- Select the Floship warehouses and/or location addresses that correspond to that Shopify location
- Each warehouse or location address can only be mapped to one Shopify location
- Changes are saved automatically when you update a mapping
Location mapping determines:
- Where inventory is pushed when Sync Inventory is enabled
- How orders are split when Split sales order by location is enabled
Tip: If you only have one warehouse, mapping is straightforward — assign it to your primary Shopify location.
Filters
Use filters to control which orders are imported from your Shopify store. You can create rules based on:
- Shipping country — import only orders shipping to specific countries
- Shipping option — filter by Shopify shipping method
- SKU — include or exclude orders containing specific products
- Location — filter by Shopify fulfillment location
- Tags — filter by Shopify order tags
Each filter rule consists of an attribute, a rule type, and one or more values:
| Rule Type | Behavior |
|---|---|
| In list | Import only orders where the attribute matches any of the specified values |
| All in list | Import only orders where the attribute matches all of the specified values |
| Not in list | Exclude orders where the attribute matches any of the specified values |
| Contains in list | Import orders where the attribute contains any of the specified values |
You can apply filters separately to Sales Orders and Return Orders.
Tip: Use tag-based filters for the most flexibility — tag orders in Shopify and create rules to import only tagged orders.
Inventory Thresholds
When Sync Inventory is enabled, the Inventory Thresholds section lets you set per-product stock reserves. This overrides the global Inventory Threshold for specific SKUs.
For each threshold row:
- Product — search and select a SKU from your catalog
- Value — the reserved quantity to subtract from available stock before pushing to Shopify
Tip: Use per-product thresholds for high-demand items where you want to keep a larger safety stock buffer.
Re-Authorization
If your Shopify connection expires or your store's permissions change, you may need to re-authorize:
- Open your Shopify integration in Floship
- Click the Re-Authorize button
- Complete the authorization flow in Shopify
- Your integration reconnects automatically
Actions
| Button | Description |
|---|---|
| Re-Authorize | Reconnect your Shopify store if the authorization has expired |
| Save | Save your current settings |
| Close | Return to the integrations list without saving |
How Order Sync Works
- Real-time: Shopify sends a webhook notification when orders are created or updated
- Scheduled: The system also checks your store every ~15 minutes for any orders the webhook may have missed
- Orders matching your filter rules and payment status settings are imported
- If Sync Delay is set, orders wait the specified time before import
How Fulfillment Sync Works
When an order is shipped from Floship:
- The tracking number and carrier information are pushed to Shopify
- The Shopify order is marked as Fulfilled
- If Send fulfillment notification is enabled, Shopify emails the customer with tracking details
How Inventory Sync Works
When Sync Inventory is enabled:
- Floship monitors stock level changes in the warehouse
- Updated quantities (minus any threshold) are pushed to your Shopify store
- If location mapping is configured, stock is updated at the correct Shopify location
- Per-product thresholds override the global threshold for specific SKUs
Tip: Inventory sync is one-way: from Floship to Shopify. Changes made directly in Shopify will be overwritten on the next sync.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Orders not importing | Integration inactive or payment status filter mismatch | Check that the integration is Active and review Sync Payment Statuses — ensure the correct statuses are selected |
| "Re-Authorize" banner appears | Shopify authorization token expired | Click Re-Authorize and complete the OAuth flow |
| Inventory not updating in Shopify | Sync disabled or location mapping missing | Verify Sync Inventory is enabled and check that location mappings are configured correctly |
| Fulfillments not appearing in Shopify | Fulfillment sync disabled | Ensure Mark Fulfillments is enabled |
| Wrong orders importing | Filter rules too broad | Review your Filters settings to ensure only the desired orders are included |
| Duplicate orders | Multiple integrations for same store | Check that you have only one active Shopify integration per store |
| Orders missing line items | Unrecognized SKUs skipped | If Ignore not found items is enabled, unrecognized SKUs are silently skipped — verify your product catalog is complete |
| Fraud-flagged orders stuck in Pending Approval | Shopify fraud detection enabled | This is expected when Fraud detection by Shopify is enabled — review and approve these orders manually |
| Checkout rates not showing | Feature not enabled or Shopify plan limitation | Ensure Show Floship Couriers Rates on Checkout is enabled and your Shopify plan supports Carrier Calculated Shipping Rates |
| Zonos duties not importing | Zonos app not installed or sync disabled | Verify the Zonos app is installed in your Shopify store and Sync Zonos Duties and Taxes is enabled |
About duties and taxes: If your store uses a duties and taxes calculation service (such as Zonos), the estimated amounts appear on the Shopify order and are synced to your portal when Sync Zonos Duties and Taxes is enabled. Final duties and taxes amounts may differ from estimates and appear on your invoices. If you have questions about specific charges, contact your Account Manager.
