Packaging

Packaging

Quick Summary: Review packaging dimensions and availability for your orders.

Overview

Use Inventory → Packaging to review boxes, bags, and other packaging for your orders. Packaging is read-only in this portal. Ask your Account Manager to add or change packaging.

Packaging dimensions and gross weight affect package fit, shipment weight, and courier rates. Account-managed packaging can use tracked warehouse stock. Company-provided packaging is managed separately and does not reduce your stock.

Quick start

  1. Open Inventory → Packaging.
  2. Select a packaging SKU.
  3. Review Packaging Details, Dimensions, and Warehouse Stock.

Product packaging type

A product's Packaging Type controls the packaging category considered during packing. Choose My Cardboard Box or My Polybags to use account-managed packaging. The system chooses from eligible options and any tracked stock. It does not assign one fixed packaging SKU to the product.

For My Polybags, the system compares eligible account-managed bags and can use company-provided packaging when none works. Packing uses the product unit's recorded dimensions and Foldability to try a practical packed shape. Folded shapes may be considered. The original recorded shape remains available.

Record a poly bag's flat Width and Length. If both inner width and length are present, packing uses them together; otherwise it uses the outer width and length. A stored inner height does not make a flat bag gusseted. The completed package shows its packed size and weight. The packaging SKU keeps the bag's stored flat measurements.

Enter the actual empty bag weight in kilograms in the existing Weight field. Packing adds that recorded weight once to the packed contents. Keep the recorded weight accurate when the bag or its packaging changes.

Automatic polybag selection skips a bag whose Weight is missing, negative, or not a finite number. Measure an unknown bag weight before using automatic selection. Do not enter zero to mean unmeasured. No separate field or setting is needed.

This guidance applies to automatic polybag selection. If automatic selection moves to another packaging choice or a carton, that choice keeps its existing behavior and limits.

Check a physical sample fit before approving a new packaging setup. Review product dimensions and foldability.

Troubleshooting

Issue Cause Solution
Packaging is missing from the list The search or filter excludes it Clear the filters and search by the exact SKU
Add, edit, or delete is unavailable Your portal or account does not allow inventory changes Ask your Account Manager to make the change
Save rejects the SKU or dimensions The SKU is in use or a measurement is missing or zero Use a unique SKU and positive required measurements
Packaging appears in the wrong size The stored outer or inner dimensions are inaccurate Verify every measurement against the physical packaging
An order has assigned packaging but no package The item has no usable width or length, the goods or the item has no weight, or the courier rejects the size or weight Fix the measurements and weights, or choose packaging the courier accepts. A courier weight check may keep the previous package instead
Delete is unavailable Stock or unfinished orders, ASNs, or returns reference it Keep it and ask your Account Manager to review the dependency
