CPSC eFiling (US Customs)
The product form defaults to Not configured. Leave this selected when CPSC eFiling does not apply; the CPSC fields remain blank and no CPSC filing data is added to the carrier payload. For applicable US-bound shipments, select Reference or Disclaimer. The form then shows only the fields for that method.
Reference — for products registered with the CPSC:
- CPSC Product ID — optional; blank uses the product SKU
- CPSC Certifier ID — required CPSC-issued identifier
- CPSC Version ID — required current certificate version
Disclaimer — when no certificate reference is provided:
- CPSC Product ID — optional; blank uses the product SKU
- CPSC Disclaimer — required; select A when the product is not regulated or B when data is not required under agency guidance
- CPSC Intended Use Code — required code in
###.###format - CPSC Intended Use Description — required only for code
980.000
Note: Reference and Disclaimer are mutually exclusive. Selecting Not configured clears the CPSC fields. The Full Message Set is not currently available in the product form.
All selected values are copied to the order and sent downstream. For US-bound shipments, the commercial invoice shows Product ID, Certifier ID, and Version ID for Reference; for Disclaimer, it shows Disclaimer and Intended Use Code.

Troubleshooting
| Issue | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Cannot create product — SKU already exists | SKUs must be unique across your account | Use a different SKU, or find and edit the existing product |
| "Harmonized Code is required" | Missing customs classification | Edit the product and enter a valid HS code |
| Product not showing in order creation | Product may be filtered out or recently created | Search by SKU in the product list; verify it exists and has valid dimensions |
| Customs value showing as 0 | Customs value not set on the product | Edit the product and set the Customs Value |
| Cannot delete product | Product is referenced by active orders | Cancel or fulfill orders referencing this product first |
| Dimensions mismatch after warehouse verification | Actual dimensions differ from declared values | The warehouse may update dimensions after physical verification — update your records accordingly |

FAQ's
What does UOM mean? UOM stands for Unit of Measurement. It defines how many units are contained at each packaging level. For example, if 10 inner cartons are packed in each master carton, and each inner carton contains 5 base products, then the inner carton UOM is 5 and the master carton UOM is 10.
Do inner carton and master carton need their own SKUs? Yes. Each packaging level (Inner Carton, Master Carton) should have a unique SKU. This allows the warehouse to pick and ship at the correct packaging level. For example, a base item might be SKU PEN-BLK while its inner carton of 50 pens might be SKU PEN-BLK-C50.
Can I change a product's SKU after creation? No. SKU is the permanent identifier. Create a new product with the correct SKU if needed.
What happens if I update a product's dimensions? Changes apply to new orders only. Existing orders retain the dimensions they were created with.
What does "Packaging Type" mean? It defines the default packaging material used when shipping this product. Your warehouse uses this to select the right box or envelope.
Do I need to fill in all unit types (Base, Inner Carton, Master Carton)? No. Only the Base Item is required. Add inner/master carton and pallet only if you ship in those quantities. Configuring carton levels is especially useful if you use JD Logistics — it allows the warehouse to process orders at the carton level.
