Products
Quick Summary: Create and maintain the catalog items that your orders ship.
Overview
Products hold the unique SKU, dimensions, customs data, and packaging settings for an item. Create a product before you add it to an order. Orders reference the product by SKU.
Open Inventory → Products.
Quick start
- Select +, then choose Add Product.
- Enter the SKU, Description, and customs details.
- Complete the Base Item width, height, length, and weight.
- Select Save.
The + menu appears when you can change inventory. If the menu is missing, ask your company administrator for access.

List actions
Both portals offer these commands in the + menu:

Select Download to export the current list as an XLSX file. The + menu requires permission to change inventory.
Bulk action
Select one or more products to enable the Bulk action list. Update Return Policy applies a return policy to the selected products. Select a policy, then confirm the action. The list reloads after the update starts.
The policy list requires return-policy access. If the list is empty, ask your Account Manager about return-policy access.
Product details
Select a SKU in the list to open the product.

Delete is blocked while the product has stock, unfinished orders, ASNs still being processed, or return items that are not restocked or disposed. Deleted products cannot be restored in the portal. Completed shipment records keep their product details.
Units
The Units table lists every unit type defined for the product.

History
The History block appears when product history is enabled. It lists changes newest first, with the time, user, and source when known. Changed fields show their previous and new values. Select Load older changes for earlier entries. Select the History heading to collapse or expand the block.
Warehouse stock
Warehouse Stock lists each warehouse with the stock measures described in Inventory Overview.

The harmonized code must also exist in the available code list and cannot be deprecated.

Some courier services require a MID Code for international shipments . For barcode and field lengths, see Product and Order Field Limits.
Dangerous goods declarations
Select each declaration that applies to the product.

The Documents section accepts an MSDS Document and a UN38.3 Document. Upload the UN38.3 test summary for products that contain lithium batteries.
CPSC eFiling (US Customs)
The form offers three filing methods: Not configured, Reference, and Disclaimer.
Leave Not configured selected when CPSC eFiling does not apply. Selecting it clears the CPSC fields.
Reference requires a CPSC Certifier ID and a CPSC Version ID. CPSC Product ID is optional, and a blank value uses the product SKU.
Disclaimer reports why you are not filing a certificate. CPSC defines the two codes in its ACE implementation guide:

eFiling applies to finished products for U.S. commerce. Component parts qualify for A when imported for manufacturing or assembly. B examples include qualifying adult wearing apparel, certified household refrigerators, and upholstered furniture when 16 CFR part 1640 is the only applicable rule.
CPSC Intended Use Code is required with either code, in ###.### format. CPSC Intended Use Description is required only for code 980.000.
Reference and Disclaimer are mutually exclusive. The form does not offer the Full Message Set.
These fields store product data for shipment documents. Saving the product does not file a certificate or disclaimer with CPSC or CBP. The configured values become part of shipment data when an order ships.
Most imported, regulated consumer products require eFiling. Disclaimers are optional; CPSC encourages them because they may improve the shipment risk score. See the CPSC eFiling FAQ, the ACE implementation guide, and the CPSC eFiling Document Library.
The form limits CPSC Product ID to 70 characters, CPSC Certifier ID to 33, CPSC Version ID to 29, CPSC Intended Use Code to 16, and CPSC Intended Use Description to 22.
Units and dimensions
Every product needs a Base Item. Add larger units only when you ship at that level.

Each unit type accepts Width, Height, Length, Weight, and Unit Qty. Unit Qty is the number of smaller units inside this level. Carton SKU and Carton EAN/UPC are optional identifiers for inner carton, master carton, and pallet levels. Height is required for every unit type except poly bags.
Some JD warehouses do not support inner cartons. The form names those warehouses and asks you to use master cartons instead.
Foldability
Availability: Foldability appears when it is enabled for your account. While it is off, products pack as Rigid and the field stays hidden.
Use Base item foldability, Inner carton foldability, Master carton foldability, or Pallet foldability in the dimensions for the matching unit type. The setting describes how readily that measured unit bends:

Choose one option from the dropdown:

Packing may fold along either of the two dimensions other than the dimension selected as thickness. It may fold the same dimension again, up to the selected class limit. Changing the order of folds can produce different dimensions. A thick or short unit can reach its limit sooner. Every option keeps the original recorded dimensions as a candidate.
The dropdown has no numeric size input. Packing chooses the shortest recorded dimension once as thickness. Ties prefer Height, then Width, then Length. Each fold adds thickness for the bend radius and looser folded stack; it does not change the recorded product dimensions or weight. Packing does not compress the unit to make a candidate fit.
For spreadsheet updates, Download Template provides the full product template. Remove unwanted columns and copy other headers exactly from the available-fields table. Download foldability example provides only SKU*, Unit Type, and Foldability. Existing cartons and pallets need no additional measurement columns for foldability-only changes. See Product Bulk Update.
Caution: The folded dimensions are a conservative packing simulation, not a verified physical fit. They do not guarantee that the item will fit or remain crease-free. Use approved handling instructions and physically measured dimensions for crease-sensitive apparel.
Note: Foldability applies only to normal product-based packing. It adds packing options without changing the recorded Width, Height, Length, or Weight. Premeasured parcel forwarding and specialized line or master packing continue to use their fixed dimensions.
Cross-docking and FIC (Fulfilled by Intermediary 3PL) units also remain rigid.
Grouping options
These settings decide whether packing can place the product with other items.

Troubleshooting

NS-PID
NS-PID stores the Non-Standardised Manufacturer PID: an internal code, model number, part number, or style number assigned by the manufacturer or brand owner. It is optional and accepts up to 200 characters .
Edit it on the product form or import it using the NS-PID spreadsheet column on Base Item rows. The previous full column name, Non-Standardised Manufacturer PID (NS-PID), is also accepted. Format cells as Text to preserve leading zeros. For bulk updates, a blank cell clears the value; omitting the column keeps it. Values are stored exactly as entered, including whitespace, and duplicate values are allowed. On eligible commercial invoices and in FedEx product identifiers, a nonblank NS-PID supplies NS-PID exactly as entered. If NS-PID is blank or contains only whitespace, both NS-PID and S-PID use SKU. When NS-PID is filled, S-PID uses UPC; if UPC is missing, the existing placeholder is used. NS-PID is not included in product exports.

FAQ
What does Unit Qty mean? Unit Qty is the number of smaller units inside one unit of this type. For example, a master carton holding ten inner cartons has Unit Qty 10.
Do inner cartons and master cartons need their own SKUs? No. Carton SKU is optional, but a unique value helps the warehouse identify each packaging level.
Can I change a product SKU after creation? No. The portal keeps the SKU read-only. Create a new product if you need a different SKU.
What does Packaging Type mean? It tells packing which packaging category the base item uses. The options are Ship Ready, My Cardboard Box, My Polybags, or a company-provided option.
Do I need every unit type? No. Only the Base Item is required. Add inner carton, master carton, or pallet only when you ship at that level.
