Labels & Documents
Labels & Documents
Quick Summary: Download shipping labels, commercial invoices, and packing slips for your orders — individually or in bulk.
Overview
FedEx generates shipping documents during order processing. You can download these documents from individual orders or in bulk from the order list.
Quick Start
- Navigate to Orders and click an order
- Scroll to the Packages section
- Click the document icon next to a package to download:
- Shipping Label — carrier shipping label
- Commercial Invoice — customs commercial invoice
- For bulk downloads, select multiple orders from the list and use Bulk Actions
Document Types
| Document | What It Is | When It's Available | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shipping Label | The carrier label affixed to the package — includes addresses, barcode, tracking number | After documents are generated during warehouse processing | |
| Commercial Invoice | Customs declaration listing items, values, HS codes, product identifiers, and origin countries — required for international shipments. For US-bound shipments, CPSC eFiling data (Product ID, Certifier ID, Version ID, Disclaimer, or Intended Use Code) is included when set on the product | Generated with the shipping label for international orders | |
| Packing Slip | Itemized list of contents included inside the package | Generated during packing |
Note: Commercial invoices for express courier shipments (FedEx, UPS, DHL) to EU countries include product identifier fields — Merchant Product Identifier (SKU), Non-Standardized Manufacturer Product Identifier (SKU), and Standardised Manufacturer Product Identifier (UPC/EAN/MPN) — when the customs value is below EUR 150 . Make sure your product UPC/EAN/MPN barcode is set on each product to populate these fields.
Detailed Guide
Downloading from an Order
- Navigate to Orders and click the order
- In the order header, look for document action buttons:
- Label icon — downloads the shipping label
- Invoice icon — downloads the commercial invoice
- For multi-package orders, each package has its own documents in the Packages section
- Click the document icon next to the specific package
Note: Documents are only available after the warehouse has processed the order. If you don't see document buttons, the order hasn't reached the labeling stage yet.
Bulk Document Download
Download documents for multiple orders at once:
- Navigate to Orders
- Select the orders you want documents for
- Open the Bulk Actions dropdown
- Select Download Shipping Labels or Download Commercial Invoices
- Wait for the system to process the request — the file downloads automatically when ready. If the portal is open in several browser tabs, the file downloads only once — from a single tab.
Download from the Export Menu
The order list also offers document downloads through the export menu:
- Click the Download icon in the order list header
- Select Download Labels
- Choose the document type:
- Shipping Label
- Commercial Invoice
- Packing Slip
- The download processes and starts automatically when ready — a notification confirms completion. If the portal is open in several browser tabs, the file downloads only once — from a single tab.
Note: This downloads documents for all orders matching your current filters, not just selected orders. Apply filters first to narrow the scope.
Uploading Your Own Labels
If you use self-pickup couriers or have pre-printed labels:
- Click the + menu → Order Label Bulk Upload
- Download the mapping template (OrderTemplateBulkLabel.xlsx)
- Fill in:
- Order Number — the FedEx reference number
- Tracking Number — your label's tracking number
- File Name — the label file name
- Upload the mapping file and your label files (PDF or ZPL format)
- Optionally, upload all labels in a single ZIP file
- Enable Scale if Incorrect Size if labels may need resizing
- Review validation and click Submit
Exporting Order Data
Separate from document downloads, you can export order data as Excel files:
| Export | What You Get |
|---|---|
| Export by Order | One row per order — order ID, status, address, courier, tracking, dates |
| Export by Order Line | One row per item line — includes SKU, quantity, customs values |
To export: 1. Apply filters to select the orders you want 2. Click the Download icon 3. Select Export by Order or Export by Order Line 4. Wait for the export to process — the file downloads automatically when ready. If the portal is open in several browser tabs, the file downloads only once — from a single tab.
Note: Large exports may take a few minutes to process.

| No label/invoice buttons on order | Order hasn't been labeled yet | Wait for the order to reach Packed (Awaiting Courier) or later |
| Bulk download is empty | No documents generated for selected orders | Check that selected orders have progressed past labeling |
| Download taking very long | Many orders selected | Reduce selection or filter to a smaller batch |
| Label file is corrupt or blank | Generation error during processing | Try downloading again. If issue persists, contact your Account Manager |
| Can't find the downloaded file | Browser didn't save the file or download was blocked | Check your browser's download folder. If not found, re-initiate the export |
| Export shows fewer orders than expected | Filters may be excluding some orders | Check active filters and date ranges |
